A Florida father has taken his own life but not before shooting his 5-year-old son dead and making threatening statements to the child’s mother, police said.
The bodies of 45-year-old Paul D. Warren and his son Colton were discovered inside the man’s home by the boy’s mother who went to check on him after he failed to attend school on Monday.
When police responded to the scene in East Naples’ Royal Harbor, they found the bodies together in a bedroom. The gun used in the murder-suicide was recovered from the suspect’s hand.
“You are going to regret this,” the jealous father reportedly texted threatening his child’s mother after suspecting she had a new relationship. The woman told police that Warren had previously talked about suicide and even tried to commit it.
