A 3-year-old Virginia boy has been gunned down by a stray bullet while playing outside his family’s home earlier this month.
Sharmar Hill Jr. was mourned by more than 200 people including the state Governor Ralph Northam, Richmond Mayor Levar Stoney and Richmond Police Chief Wiliam Smith who attended the toddler’s memorial service at New Life Deliverance Tabernacle. Inside his casket, the boy’s family placed his favorite PJ Masks stuffed toy.
“We know there was a set of people out there shooting and firing guns in the area,” Det. Joseph Fultz said. “For whatever reason, they decided to shoot up the neighborhood where little kids are outside playing in the playground.”
Police are seeking witnesses to come forward to help identify the shooters by contacting De. Fultz at 804-646-3929.
