A Missouri mother has been busted after police found the bodies of her newborn children inside her St. Louis home on Jan. 8.
25-year-old Maya Caston is facing second-degree murder charges in addition to two counts of abuse or neglect of a child.
Authorities accused Caston of murdering her daughter and son shortly after their birth between Jan. 6 and Jan. 8. Caston then called police to her home to report that her stillborn children have died because she went through labor unexpectedly and couldn't take care of them properly.
But a probable cause statement revealed another version of the events: "She covered their mouths and noses with a towel and blanket, concealed them, and ailed to seek medical attention. Both babies died as a result."
