A Denver father has pleaded guilty to child abuse resulting in death on Thursday after the dead body of his 7-year-old son was found encased in concrete in a dog kennel at the family home.
The boy, Caden, was first reported missing on December 17, 2018, when officers arrived at the home in response to a domestic abuse incident. Once there, the boy's mother, Elisha Pankey, told police that her husband, 40-year-old Leland Pankey, was beating her and her child who was nowhere to be found.
After further investigation, officers discovered the remains of Caden encased in concrete and arrested his parents.
The medical examiner's office couldn't tell what was the real cause behind the boy's death but ruled it a homicide. The victim had a fractured skull and a broken arm, police said.
