A homeless man was taken into custody after he tried to kidnap a 6-year-old girl from a California pizza restaurant because she remembered him of his niece, news outlets reported.
The event occurred late Saturday night when the family was eating outside on the patio of a pizza restaurant in Venice. They were approached by a stranger later identified as Evan McLaurin-Nelson. He grabbed the toddler, Neveah Pegram, saying that he had to save her because she reminded him of his niece.
The girl's father and her uncle then stopped him: "He almost grabbed her. I moved him away, my brother pulled him down by the hair, my brother got on top of him. I got on top of him, we're holding him down," Riley Pegram told reporters.
