Acton Bowen, founder of 39-year-old Acton Bowen Outreach Ministries, pleaded guilty to 28 charges in Jefferson County and Etowah County for sexually abusing six boys between the ages of 12 and 16.
Young victims told investigators that they had been sexually abused by an Alabama citizen.
Bowen, of Gadsden, has been imprisoned since his arrest in Hoover in April 2018, where he was charged with second-degree sodomy and sexual abuse on the second.
Bowen could now face life imprisonment after making a blind appeal to the charges against him in Etowah County.
The date of sentencing for Bowen has not yet been set. Prosecutors made no comment when asked what sentence of imprisonment would be appropriate for Bowen, who has written three books for sale online.
A Bowen lawyer said he entered the courtroom because he did not want the victims to testify at the trial, reports the Gadsden Times.
