Florence authorities have rescued two small children who were left unattended in a hot car outside a Walmart, according to media reports.
The incident occurred on Tuesday at around 2:30 p.m. on South Irby Street. The outside temperature at the time reached 90 degrees. Officers managed to rescue the children by getting them out of the car, then took them to a hospital for evaluation.
Alyssa Oliver, the children's mother, was arrested when she returned to look for them. She was charged with two counts of unlawful conducted toward a child and booked into the Florence County Detention Center.
The children were are currently placed in the care of the South Carolina Department of Social Services.
