Boston authorities arrested a well-known doctor for DUI after he allegedly stroke several pedestrians and fled the scene.
Dr. Michael Watkins was charged with assault and battery by means of a dangerous weapon and operating under the influence and pleaded not guilty to the charges. He was released on $1,500 bail.
According to prosecutors, the 64-year-old drove drunk before midnight last Friday and stroke three pedestrians before honking at them and fleeing the scene.
Watkins' defense attorney claimed that the doctor wasn't honking at the victims but at another car. He also argued that his blood-alcohol level was just a little above the legal limit permitted to drive his vehicle.
