A horse stuck in a pool is dead, sheriff officials Monday said.

According to investigators, a "poor horse", as described by the sheriff's office in Palm Beach County, who fell into a pool in a house in Lake Worth.

A uniformed deputy, twenty-two days before his retirement, went to the pool to reassure the big dark horse.

He sat on the steps and calmed the animal.

The sheriff's office worked with the Palm Beach County Emergency Department to remove the horse from the pool. But on Monday, officials said the horse died later.
