A father and son were found dead at a Michigan campground on June 8 in what authorities believe was a murder-suicide.
The bodies were discovered at a campground at Isle Royale National Park at around 4 p.m. on June 8.
After receiving reports of the deaths, park rangers hiked overnight and traveled 11 miles to the site to retrieve the bodies.
“That could have just been (when) their bodies got transported off the island, and I believe they were pronounced on shore after they got them out of there,” Keweenaw County Medical Examiner Dr. Michael McAllister said.
“So the date that they were pronounced doesn’t always necessarily correlate with the dates that we suspect they actually died.”
The bodies were found at South Desor Lake Campground, about an 11-mile hike from Windigo and off the main path Greenstone Ridge Trail.
