Suspect accused of helping California fertility clinic bomber dies in jail

The Washington man accused of helping the bomber of a California fertility clinic died Tuesday in jail.

Daniel Park, 32, was the chemical supplier to Guy Edward Bartkus, the bomber who perished in the May 17 explosion in Palm Springs.

Park was found unresponsive at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Los Angeles and later pronounced dead. His cause of death was not immediately disclosed.

  • Police said Park and Bartkus “shared belief that people shouldn’t exist” and believed in anti-natalism and population growth.

    Detectives said Park shipped 180 pounds of ammonium nitrate to Bartkus in January and added another 90 pounds, days before the explosion.

    After the incident, Park fled to Poland. He was extradited back to New York and arrested on June 3.

    Park faced federal charges, including providing and attempting to provide material support to terrorists.
