A Texas man was taken into custody after he allegedly assaulted an ice cream truck driver, accusing him of “acting suspiciously” around kids.
The incident occurred Tuesday in College Station when Michael Valadez, 42, punched the ice cream truck driver several times and threatened to shoot him. Valadez also stole the victim’s phone.
When officers arrived at the scene, Valadez said he believed the victim was suspicious, taking phones from children and giving them his phone number.
The driver told police he used the kids’ phones to pay for their treats through Apple Pay and Cash App.
He also stated that he shared his number so customers could call him if they needed his services.
Investigators determined that the truck driver had no ill intentions and did not engage in any inappropriate behavior.
Valadez was arrested and charged with robbery and unlawful possession of a firearm.
