A Florida man was put to death for the 1994 rape and murder of a woman outside a bar.
Thomas Lee Gudinas, 51, was pronounced dead at 6:13 p.m. after receiving the lethal injection at Florida State Prison near Starke.
His last words were reportedly inaudible to witnesses, but officials said he made a reference to Jesus and repented.
As drugs began flowing into his body, Gudinas’ eyes reportedly started rolling back, and he had slight chest convulsions.
His face became discolored as he fell still. The warden then announced that he had passed away.
Gudinas was convicted of killing Michelle McGrath in May 1994 after a night at a bar. The woman was found dead near a local school the following morning.
Tuesday’s execution marks Florida’s seventh this year. A total of 24 men have been executed in the U.S. in 2025.
