President Donald Trump revealed Thursday that he was “very disappointed” in his former ally, Elon Musk, who is relentlessly criticizing his massive tax and immigration bill.
“Look, Elon and I had a great relationship. I don’t know if we will anymore,” Trump told reporters alongside German Chancellor Friedrich Merz in the Oval Office.
“He hasn’t said anything about me that’ bad, I’d rather have him criticize me than the bill, because the bill is incredible.”
Trump added that the Tesla billionaire was really “upset” about his “One Big Beautiful Bill Act” that passed the House last month and would remove tax credits for electric vehicles.
“But I’m very disappointed because Elon knew the inner workings of this bill better than almost anybody sitting here, better than you people,”
“He knew everything about it. He had no problem with it. All of a sudden, he had a problem.”
Musk hit back at Trump’s claims, saying that the President was not telling the truth.
“False, this bill was never shown to me even once and was passed in the dead of night so fast that almost no one in Congress could even read it!” he posted.
