A child is dead and three other people were injured when a vehicle crashed into them as they left an Oak Cliff, Texas elementary school Thursday afternoon.
The three children and one adult were hit by a truck while leaving Felix Botello Elementary School on South Marsalis Avenue at around 3:26 p.m.
Police said the victims were crossing the road in an area without a crosswalk. Firefighters rushed to the scene and provided life-saving measures at the scene.
One child succumbed to their injuries. Two others were listed in critical condition at the Children’s Medical Center. The adult victim is in stable condition.
On Friday, authorities identified the hospitalized children as two girls, ages 11 and 9. All three children attended the same school but were not family members.
The driver remained at the scene. Speeding was not suspected in the crash.
“It’s heartbreaking. It’s really heartbreaking. It’s horrible, that scene is graphic,” a resident said.
