An innocent girl was shot and killed outside a Bronx school after she got caught in a shooting involving feuding gangs on Monday.
Evette Jeffrey, 16, was fatally struck while riding her bike outside Bronx Latin School in New York.
Mayor Eric Adams identified the alleged shooter as a 14-year-old boy who had a history of violence, including an instance where he pointed a gun at his mom.
“Tonight, a 14-year-old suspect shot and killed a 16-year-old girl. Babies killing babies. It’s an unimaginable tragedy, and I am praying for the victim’s family,” Adams said.
“I don’t even know what to say when a shooting like this occurs. Us parents must continue to do everything in our power to make sure our kids cannot access guns.”
Evette’s family said she planned to attend college and become a medical technician. They said they will cremate her and keep a piece of her with them.
“I don’t forgive you,” Evette’s grandmother said while addressing the shooter. “I hold your family responsible.”
“They can say I’m sorry a million times, I will never forgive any of you. Any of you.”
