Polk County news, Florida news.

Four teens were arrested in Florida over the “merciless” beating of a man earlier this month.

Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd said that it was hard to watch the cell video of the May 5 assault on Juan Carlos Ramos.

Ramos’ wife reported the attack when he returned home because he did not want police to learn he had been drinking alcohol while on probation.

Eathan Ryne Simmons, and Westlee Austin Davis II, both 18, along with 17-year-old Robert Frerichs and 19-year-old Dalton Ivory Creach, were arrested in connection with the assault.

  • “The video of the beating is hard to watch,” Judd said. “The victim was knocked down with the first punch and rendered defenseless. The suspects continued to attack the man – they pummeled him repeatedly with a sickening rage.”

The victim said he was talking to a man at a car wash when he was attacked. The teens claimed he was a gang member who “bothered” an autistic friend of theirs.

Ramos suffered severe wounds to his face, jaw, and teeth. The teens are facing several charges, including attempted murder and aggravated battery.

“They beat him without mercy. Jumped on him like a bunch of pack animals,” Judd said.

“We don’t treat people like that. That conduct’s not acceptable in Polk County.”
