A single mother of four survived four battles against breast cancer before being senselessly shot and killed inside her home.
Jennifer James was fatally struck by a stray bullet that pierced through the window of her Berthoud, Colorado home.
The 49-year-old victim was undergoing chemotherapy, her family said. She was first diagnosed with cancer when she was 29.
“She was a mother of four, and she was battling cancer at the time. That was the first thing her friend told me when she called me,” a neighbor said.
27-year-old Ebenezer Worku was arrested in connection with James’ death.
The mentally ill suspect reportedly admitted to firing the weapon but said he did not know he shot someone.
