Missing Texas girl, 7, dies after being found in retention pond

A missing Texas girl died Saturday night after being pulled from a retention pond, authorities said.

The 7-year-old girl was reported missing just before 9 p.m. near 2401 Preston Road near Stonebriar Centre.

  • Officers from the Frisco Police Department, the Texas Department of Public Safety, and the Lewisville Fire Department responded to the pond behind an Uncle Julio’s restaurant.

    They reportedly located a pair of shoes along the bank and found the girl in the water. She was pulled out of the pond and later pronounced dead.

    Authorities did not disclose how the girl ended up in the water. The incident remains under investigation.
