Dawson County news, Nebraska news.

A Nebraska father took his own life after he stabbed his wife and two teen sons to death Saturday, police said.

Officers discovered the bodies of Jeremy Koch, 42; his 41-year-old wife, Bailey; and their sons, 18-year-old Hudson and 16-year-old Asher, at around 9:45 a.m.

The massacre took place on Hudson’s high school graduation day, Superintendent Dan Endorf confirmed.

“As you know, our community and our senior class experienced a tragedy within the past few hours,” Endorf said.

The wife said Koch had survived at least four suicide attempts. In March, Bailey woke to her husband standing over her holding a knife and uttering, “Something is wrong.”

Koch’s condition did not seem to improve even after he completed electroconvulsive therapy treatment; Bailey said Koch became a “shell of himself.”

“Mental illness is taking my husband from me, and I’m begging you to open your eyes and see the reality that is this society’s mental health crisis,” she said.
