A shooting at a Houston family party has left one person dead and more than a dozen others hurt early Sunday, authorities said.
Officers responded to the scene at the 6000 block of Cherry Hill in southeast Houston shortly before 1 a.m., Assistant Chief Patricia Cantu said.
Once at the scene, officers located several victims suffering from gunshot wounds scattered around a home.
One person was confirmed dead and 13 others were taken to hospitals, some in critical condition.
Cantu said that investigators believe an uninvited guest opened fire when asked to leave the party before others returned fire.
Multiple people were in custody, but it remains unclear whether the shooter was among them.
