St. Louis news, Missouri news.

A Missouri woman was fatally hit late Saturday after she fell from the roof of a moving SUV, authorities said.

18-year-old Nyla Simmons was reportedly dancing on top of a Cadillac Escalade at around 11:20 p.m. when the SUV stopped at a red light.

Police said that once the SUV moved again, Simmons fell off and was fatally struck by a fire truck responding to a call.

The teen’s grieving parents said their daughter was returning from a friend’s prom party.

“Nyla was out having fun, that’s what she liked: having fun, hanging out with her friends.”

Nyla’s father said the family does not blame the friends who were in the vehicle at the time of the incident.

“We’ve all been young before, we all have done some type of thing where it could have ended up bad for us,” he said.

“We want all her people and her friends to take this and learn from it.”
