A South Florida toddler died Wednesday night after he was struck by two vehicles while chasing after his family dog into oncoming traffic.

The 1-year-old wandered out of his home on North Halifax Avenue in Daytona Beach as he followed the family dog that had managed to flee the residence.

The boy entered oncoming traffic and was hit by a 2003 Honda CR-V that sent him into the southbound lanes of the avenue, where he was struck again by a 2012 Chevy Silverado.
