A Tennessee grandfather was identified as the victim of a Saturday drive-by shooting that also left five people injured in Memphis’ Medical District.
52-year-old Anthony Ford was gunned down while attending a candlelight vigil for a 38-year-old woman who had died from a heart attack.
Shots rang out just moments after balloons were released in the woman’s memory. The youngest victim was a 14-year-old.
“It’s upsetting that would happen. You’re there for peace. You’re there to support the family, and a violent situation happens, and that’s just horrible. Like why,” Ford’s partner said.
“You’re out here taking innocent lives for nothing.”
The woman called for those responsible to turn themselves in to the police.
“You’re hurting innocent people, you’re tearing up families, and this has to end. This has to end,” she added.
