A 14-year-old Georgia boy was gunned down Friday while playing basketball in his yard in what authorities believe was a targeted shooting.

Demarrion Carter’s family and teachers described him as a sweet boy who loved playing basketball, fishing, and attending the Empowerment 3D mentorship program.

“Why did it happen? Who did it? We don’t know,” said the president of Empowerment 3D, Jerome Cofield.
