Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro and his family were evacuated from their official residence after an arson fire, authorities said.
Someone set fire to the governor’s official residence on the first night of the Jewish holiday of Passover.
While the investigation is still in its early stages, State Police said in a statement that they were “prepared to say at this time that this was an act of arson.”
The Democratic governor said in a statement that State Police alerted him and his family to the fire at around 2 a.m.
Firefighters with the Harrisburg Bureau of Fire put out the flames after evacuating the residents.
No one was injured in the blaze that caused a “significant amount of damage” to a part of the residence.
