Two adults and two toddlers were killed Thursday in a fiery crash involving a car and a tractor-trailer in Jeff Davis County, Georgia.
The Georgia State Patrol said the crash occurred at around 7:40 a.m. on Highway 27 at Eureka Church Road when a gray Chevrolet Avalanche crossed the center line and collided head-on with the tractor-trailer.
The trailer burst into flames and crashed into a west ditch. The Avalanche overturned ad caught fire in the northbound lane of the highway.
The victims were identified as the tractor-trailer’s driver, Jason Goodwin of Eglin, South Carolina.
The three occupants of the Avalanche were also pronounced dead at the scene. They were later identified as 27-year-old Nicholas Coleman and his two children, aged 2 and 3.
It took crews several hours to extinguish the flames. All lanes of the highway were subsequently shut down.
