A West Virginia father and his girlfriend were arrested last week after he allegedly squeezed his 3-month-old girl so hard that he damaged her internal organs.
Timothy L. Ferrebee, 41, initially denied involvement in his daughter’s injuries after she was brought to Summersville Regional Medical Center on Saturday in critical condition.
The baby’s mother noticed the injuries on her after a custody exchange with Ferrebee and his girlfriend, 36-year-old Jerri Ferrebee.
Police said she was transported to Ruby Memorial Children’s Hospital for further care after she suffered damage to her lungs, stomach, and esophagus.
The girl underwent emergency surgery and was placed in a medical-induced coma.
Ferrebee eventually admitted that after a long day of work and a “verbal assault” from his girlfriend, he “squeezed” the newborn to get some relief.
“Timothy consistently stated he was not frustrated with the infant, instead stating that the infant was just what happened to be in front of him while he was venting those frustrations in the form of squeezing the infant,” a criminal complaint states.
