Two men were killed and two others wounded in a shooting in Severn, Maryland, authorities said late Tuesday.
Police in Anne Arundel County responded to the shooting at around 7 p.m. and located two men suffering from gunshot wounds.
23-year-old Derrick Purcell Ahmad McDonald died at the scene while Mack Samuel Halloway III, 28, succumbed to his injuries at a hospital.
Two other victims, a 26-year-old man who was hurt by a metal fragment and a car passenger with a gunshot wound, were rushed to hospitals in non-life-threatening condition.
Witnesses said the shooting occurred over a game of basketball between kids and adults. Investigators believe the shooting was targeted.
“We are going to try and determine what led up to it, what the motive was, what preceded the incident,” Anne Arundel County Police Capt. Tim Davis said.
“We want to get to the bottom of it and locate the individuals that were responsible for this incident.”
