Pope Francis was put on ventilation after he suffered a “sudden worsening of his respiratory condition,” the Vatican said.
The pontiff’s condition took a turn for the worse Friday when he suffered an “isolated attack of bronchospasm” which caused vomiting with inhalation.

He underwent broncho aspiration and put on non-invasive mechanical ventilation.
On Saturday, the Vatican said in an update that “the night passed peacefully, the Pope is resting.”
Pope Francis has been hospitalized since Feb 14. He remained alert and oriented during medical proceedings but his prognosis “remains uncertain,” the Vatican added.
