A Pennsylvania father shot and killed his wife of 10 years and their two children, aged five and one year old, before taking his own life in a tragic murder-suicide Thursday afternoon.
Karen Swarner’s father called 911 when he couldn’t reach his 32-year-old daughter sending officers to the Ruffs Dale home where they found her, her 35-year-old husband, Paul Swarner, their 5-year-old daughter Evelyn, and 1-year-old son Connor dead from gunshot wounds.
The wife last talked with a relative Wednesday afternoon and “for all intents and purposes” the conversation was “normal.”
“We’re going to do everything we can to get answers to the family but I’m sure right now that answers aren’t going to be sufficient for what they’re going through,” Pennsylvania State Police Trooper Steve Limani said.
“It’s unthinkable. It’s unfathomable. To be honest with you, I don’t have the words to describe how awful it is. I mean, you’re talking about your wife, but then a 5-year-old and a 1-year-old? It’s just devastating.”
