An Oregon father is hailed a hero after he was fatally shot trying to stop a purse-snatching outside a northeast Portland grocery store earlier this month.

Jonathan Trent, 47, was leaving the Fred Meyer grocery store at around 3:50 p.m. on Jan. 13 when he witnessed the purse-snatching and tried to intervene.
