La Joya news, Texas news.

A Texas father is dead after he was electrocuted while trimming trees outside a local church ahead of a cold front last weekend.

Vicente Morgado, 54, was trimming the trees outside a La Joya church using a pole saw on Saturday morning when the saw touched power lines.

The man started a landscaping business two decades ago after moving to Texas from Mexico.

“He took pride in his work. He loved this town,” his son, Sebastian Morgado, said.

Morgado was remembered as a “devoted husband, father, and friend” who considered landscaping his passion.

“I always knew this day would come, that I would have to help and provide for my family when he wasn’t here. I just didn’t think it would be so soon,” Sebastian added.

“I wish I can be half the man he was. If I ever am, I’ll be happy.”
