Seven San Antonio Police officers were shot by a suspect who was later found dead after an hours-long standoff late Wednesday.
Police said the incident started when officers responded to reports of a suicide in progress at a Stone Oak apartment just before 8:30 p.m.
A woman left the apartment and told an officer that 46-year-old Brandon Scott Poulos was shooting inside an apartment and was coming out.
Poulos opened fire at the first officer striking him in the leg, before shooting a second, a third, and a fourth one by one as they arrived at the scene.
The department later said that seven officers were shot as Poulos barricaded himself inside the apartment for several hours.
Officers later found him dead inside the apartment. It remains unclear if he died from self-inflicted wounds or was killed by the police.
The injured officers are expected to survive. Poulos was reportedly arrested last weekend on charges including bodily injury and DWI. He bonded out the following day and was ordered to undergo a mental health assessment.
