A corrections deputy is being held at the same Pierce County jail where he worked for less than six months, accused of running over his ex-girlfriend while drunk.
Cameron Boucher, 22, allegedly ran over his ex-girlfriend’s head outside the Steel Creek Bar in Tacoma at around 1:50 a.m. on New Year’s Day.
Investigators said Boucher and the woman had an altercation and he was heavily drunk when he stepped into his truck to drive home.
The victim approached Boucher’s truck but fell to the ground. Boucher, impaired at the time, backed up and ran directly over her head.
He also is accused of getting into a fight with a friend of the victim after the incident.
Police said he was twice the legal limit, failed a field sobriety test, and smelled strongly of alcohol at the scene.
The woman sustained multiple facial fractures and remains in critical condition.
Boucher has been charged with vehicular assault. He remains employed by Pierce County but is likely to lose his job due to the severity of the allegations.
