An Amarillo, Texas man is accused of killing his 106-year-old grandmother who died in “suspicious circumstances” late last month.
Officers responded to the pair’s home on N.E. 14th Street near North Hill Street on Nov. 26 over reports of a death.
Cecilia Ferguson, 106, was found dead at the home she shared with her grandson, 35-year-old Michael Alexander Ferguson.
Responding officers noted suspicious circumstances at the scene and the Amarillo Police Department launched a homicide investigation.
Michael Ferguson was initially arrested on charges of injury to the elderly. He denied any involvement in his grandmother’s death.
After further investigation, his charges were upgraded to murder. He is currently being held at the Potter County Detention Center.
Investigators did not elaborate on the woman’s cause of death.
