Texas father calls actions ‘punishment’ after burning daughter’s hands on stovetop

A Houston father is behind bars after he allegedly forced his daughter to place her hands on an electric stovetop as a punishment.

The incident occurred Friday at an apartment complex on S. Gessner Road, police said.

  • Oscar Ovidio Villagas, 39, allegedly burned the 10-year-old girl’s hands on the stovetop and made her hold a heavy object above her head while she performed squats.

    Upon his arrest, Villagas reportedly called his dangerous and cruel actions a “punishment.”

    He was charged with injury to a child. He is being held on a $75,000 bond.
