Sisters, ages 3 & 4, killed in DUI crash: ‘They were a joy’

Authorities in southern California have arrested a 28-year-old man in connection to a DUI crash that left two young sisters dead on Sunday.

3-year-old Alinah Flores and her 4-year-old sister Neveah died when Alexis Garcia drove his pickup truck through a red light and crashed into their sedan.

The sedan then crashed into a tow truck. One of the girls was ejected from her car seat and both were pronounced dead at the scene.

  • The girls’ parents and Garcia survived the collision. Garcia fled the crash scene but was later arrested.

    He now faces two counts of murder after he was found to be under the influence of alcohol.

    “It’s a tragedy. Two innocent babies got their lives taken away,” the girls’ grandmother said.

    “They were a joy. We would have tea parties, riding bikes. I’m at a loss for words.”
