A 19-year-old California man appeared in court Tuesday to face murder and arson charges in connection to a quadruple homicide that occurred earlier this month.
Miguel Sandoval is accused of shooting Matthew Montebello, 21; Janvi Maquindang, 21; Christine Aca-ac, 26; and Edwin Garcia, 24, inside a Lancaster home on Nov. 19.
The victims were reportedly killed while sleeping and after Sandoval burglarized the residence.
The teen then set the home ablaze to cover up the murders. A surviving resident, a 16-year-old girl, hid in a closet and called 911.
Three dogs were also gunned down in the incident. Montebello’s mother said that Sandoval was a former boyfriend of a younger sibling of the victims.
She said of her late son: “I want him to be remembered as a kind, loving child. Very respectful, caring, as a brother, as a gentle soul, very smart, very talented.”
