Three people were killed in an unprovoked stabbing spree across Manhattan Monday morning, authorities said.
51-year-old Ramon Rivera did not reportedly utter a word to his victims before viciously stabbing a 36-year-old construction worker, a 68-year-old fisher and a 36-year-old woman.
The first attack occurred on West 19th Street at 8:22 a.m. About two hours later, the second attack was reported at 500 East 30th Street and the East River.
The third victim was attacked near the UN building at 42nd Street and First Avenue at 10:55 a.m.
“No words exchanged. No property taken. Just attacked, viciously,” said NYPD Chief of Detectives Joseph Kenny.
“He just walked up to them and began to attack them with the knives.”
Rivera was covered in blood and had two large kitchen knives on him when police arrested him.
“He appears to be undomiciled,” Kenny added.
The suspect has eight prior arrests for grand larceny, burglary, theft and, assault.
“Obviously, we’ve got a lot of work to do with this,” Mayor Eric Adams said.
“He has some severe mental issues that should have been examined, and that’s what we’re looking at as part of the investigation.”
