4 taco stands robbed at gunpoint across Los Angeles; several employees injured

Authorities in Los Angeles are looking for a group of Hispanic men after a series of robberies targeting taco stands in the city’s South Bay region late Friday.

The first incident was reported at around 11 p.m. near the intersection of Torrance Boulevard and Denker Avenue in Torrance.

Two taco stand employees were badly beaten and robbed at gunpoint by a group of three to four suspects who took off with about $2,000.

A second armed robbery occurred less than two miles away about 40 minutes after the first incident at a taco truck in the Harbor Gateway area.

  • The armed men fled the scene in a black Scion with around $1,000. The third incident occurred while officers were still at the second scene.

    This time, the suspects targeted a taco stand near Torrance Boulevard and Vermont Avenue, leaving at least one employee injured.

    The fourth robbery was reported 30 minutes later near 182nd Street and Western Avenue in Gardena.

    Several people were assaulted by the suspects and an unspecified amount of cash was stolen before the group fled in the black Scion.

    Investigators believe all four robberies are connected, asking anyone with information about the suspects to call the police.
