A Florida teen was charged with second-degree murder after she allegedly stabbed her abused boyfriend to death during a fight last summer.
Zoe Nicole Cooper, 18, was charged on Friday with second-degree murder in the death of 19-year-old Tadarius Massey at her Orlando home.
After months of investigation, detectives determined that Cooper did not act in self-defense as she claimed when she allegedly stabbed Massey multiple times and tried to strangle him after he refused to give her his phone.
The teen dropped the dying man and some friend at an Ocoee hospital and went back to her home.
Massey’s death was ruled a homicide. He had reportedly told several witnesses that Cooper would attack and stab him, and had previously threatened to kill him.
Old stab wounds were found on Massey’s shoulder during autopsy. Text messages from Cooper further incriminated her, according to detectives.
“I should have killed you,” she reportedly said in a message after an earlier incident. “I’m glad I stabbed you. Seriously I hope you die a very painful death and I mean ts.”
Massey’s employer told detective Massey would come to work “beat up” and tell her Cooper attacked him.
