Houston news, Texas news.

A Houston Independent School District police dispatcher is dead after he was allegedly gunned down by his nephew, whom he raised as his “own son”.

Antonio Guzman, 22, told detectives that he felt “unwelcomed and unloved” by 37-year-old Jose Torres when he showed up at his home in the Spring Branch neighborhood Friday.

“[Torres] and his wife had raised Defendant as their own son,” prosecutors said.

“Defendant showed up at [Torres’] home and shot and killed [Torres] when the two were alone.”

Guzman shot the victim in the face and “upper extremities” several times and left him for dead.

Torres’ wife found his body after he failed to pick her and their children up from work and school.

A neighbor recalled seeing the father-of-two trimming trees outside his residence shortly before the murder.

“He was by himself. And that was it,” he said.
