Candyman and Final Destination star Tony Todd died Wednesday night at the age of 69.
The late actor’s representative Jeffrey Goldberg said he died of natural causes at his Marina Del Rey home.
Todd rose to fame over four decades in show business appearing in multiple film series including the Transformers and Final Destination.
He was best known for his role as the titular serial killer in the Candyman franchise as well as the Commander Kurn on Star Trek shows.
Born in 1954, Todd was raised by his aunt since he turned three years old.
“My mother was going through some issues. So the family intervened,” he once told the Guardian.
Todd’s aunt put him in acting classes during summers which helped him decide his career, enrolling at the Eugene O’Neill Theater Center years later.
The actor’s real love remained theatre and he participated in numerous plays such as King Hedley II.
“In an ideal world, I’d just do theatre. Unfortunately, it’s hard to make a living doing full theatre. I try to do a play a year,” he admitted.
