World leaders react to Donald Trump’s historic victory

Leaders and top politicians across the world reacted to the overwhelming victory of Donald Trump as the race drew to a swift conclusion Wednesday morning.

Several European leaders congratulated the former president as he confirmed his win in the 2024 race for the White House.

“Ready to work together as we have done for four years,” French President Emmanuel Macron posted on X.

“With your convictions and with mine, with respect and ambition, for more peace and prosperity.”

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban celebrated “the biggest comeback in the U.S. political history” calling Trump’s victory an “enormous win” and a “much-needed victory for the world.”

Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelensky congratulated Trump for his “impressive election victory” adding that he and his administration “look forward to an era of a strong United States of America under President Trump’s decisive leadership.”

    NATO Secretary-General Mark Rutte considered Trump’s leadership a “key to keeping our alliance strong.”

    European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen “warmly” congratulated Trump noting that the EU and the U.S. “are more than just allies.”

    British Prime Minister Keir Starmer congratulated Trump’s “historic” victory hoping to work with him in the years ahead.

    Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni commended Trump’s “Good work” joining Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and Pakistan Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif in offering best wishes for the president-elect.
