The suspicious death of a Black Alabama man is being investigated by the FBI following a request from the local sheriff’s office.
Colbert County Sheriff’s deputies found 39-year-old Dennoriss Richardson hanging in an abandoned house in a rural part of the county and miles away from his Sheffield home last September.
While the sheriff’s office ruled Richardson’s death a suicide, his wide doubts the finding arguing that her husband did not leave a note and had no ties to the house where he died.
The woman did not accuse anyone but fears Richardson’s death could be related to a lawsuit he filed against local police earlier this year.
“We feel confident in what our findings were, but we feel like by doing this we can give the family more peace,” Sheriff Eric Balentine said.
