2 killed, 6 wounded in downtown Orlando shooting

Two people are dead and six others wounded early Friday morning in a downtown Orlando shooting, authorities.

Gunfire erupted in the area of Orange Avenue and Central Avenue at around 1:07 a.m. Friday as crowds celebrated Halloween.

Orlando Police arrested 17-year-old Jalen Dwayne Edgar at the scene. They believe he acted alone.

  • The victims were aged between 19 and 39, Orlando Police Chief Eric Smith said.

    “We’re conducting a shooting investigation…We are still gathering information and interviewing witnesses,” police said.

    A motive remains unclear but Smith said the suspect had been arrested for grand theft last year.
