A Georgia funeral home director has been charged after deputies found 18 decomposing bodies inside his facility during an eviction Saturday.

39-year-old Chris Johnson faces 17 counts of abuse of a dead body. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is working on more charges.

On Saturday, Coffee County Sheriff’s deputies were serving an eviction notice at Johnson Funeral Home when they discovered 18 human bodies and two pets.

Douglas residents were left in shock at the news of the discovery with some noting difficulty in contacting Johnson to check up on his services.
