A Hayward man was arrested this week after he allegedly led police to his slain father’s body, police said.
The 58-year-old father did not show up for work on Wednesday and was not answering his phone.
Police conducted a welfare check on the 2000 block of American Avenue at around 8:10 p.m. but did not find the missing man but found evidence of a fatal shooting.
After interviewing the man’s 25-year-old son, David Sanchez, detectives named him a suspect in his father’s death.
Sanchez, who was arrested the following day in Oakland for an unrelated matter, led Hayward police to his father’s body.
“Oakland PD requested we conduct a welfare check of Sanchez’s father based on statements Sanchez made during their investigation,” HPD said.
The body was located in a dumpster on the 33000 block of Central Avenue in Union City.
