Freedom news, Maine news.

Two people died and two others were harmed in a carbon monoxide poisoning incident at a Freedom, Maine home where an illegal marijuana grow operation had previously been busted.

Fire Chief Jim Waterman said first responders rushed to the home over reports of a gas leak shortly after 6 a.m. Tuesday.

Lethal levels of carbon monoxide were detected inside the home with five people at the scene.

Two of those were pronounced dead and two others were rushed to hospitals.

The gas leak was traced to a pipe from the propane heater that was disconnected and emitting fumes into the residence.

In May, police raided the home where they seized more than 1,900 marijuana plants.
